Engskov Maskinfabrik Aims to Grow and Is Strengthening Sales

The sales and project department at the innovative and well-established machine factory currently consists of four employees. During the spring, the department will be strengthened with a new Sales Director (CSO), who will also join Engskov Maskinfabrik’s management team.

According to KAM/Project Manager Jan Daugaard, the sales and project department is ready to support the upcoming execution of an ambitious growth strategy.

The Growth Strategy Requires a Stronger Sales Effort

Engskov is a well-established company within machining and welding of steel structures for a number of major customers with whom the company has long-standing and close cooperation. With a thorough and well-prepared strategic plan, the company is now focusing on executing this plan, in which growth is one of the key areas. Therefore, the sales function is being strengthened so that new customers can be attracted and developed.

“There is nothing to indicate that our current major customers will reduce their cooperation with us. On the contrary. But we want to make ourselves more independent and more resilient. That requires us to achieve significant growth, and therefore we need to strengthen our outward-facing sales efforts and significantly increase the inflow of new customers,” explains CEO Jes Gravesen about the background for the company now seeking a new Sales Director (CSO).

The new Sales Director is expected to help move Engskov Maskinfabrik to the next level by attracting and developing new major customers within our core competencies: machining and welding of steel structures, preferably as serial production, which the company has specialized in.

A Well-Functioning Sales and Project Department

With a more outward-looking and proactive style, the new Sales Director will complement an otherwise well-functioning sales and project department. Here, KAM/Project Manager Jan Daugaard, together with three employees, handles customer contact, order intake, alignment of expectations, order creation, quotations, cooperation with production, quality assurance and delivery.

“Our team is very skilled at engaging in dialogue with existing customers, reviewing drawings and suggesting suitable adjustments, preparing quotations, planning, coordinating and ensuring that we deliver as promised and at the expected high quality,” says Jan Daugaard, adding:

“But we have recognized that none of us is sufficiently outward-looking when it comes to proactive sales. So this is primarily where our new Sales Director will complement and strengthen us. In the sales and project department, he or she will have a solid support team that simply works and collaborates very well with production in both Ringsted and Poland.”

Specialized and Geared for Growth

Engskov Maskinfabrik has specialized in machining and welding of steel structures ranging from small to very large components. Extensive welding work of very high quality as well as machining by milling and turning in very large dimensions are among the tasks for which the production is particularly well equipped.

Typically, the company manufactures smaller, recurring series of complex products with many item numbers. In addition, there are often special services such as holding stock for customers, handling surface treatment, participating in quality control or contributing to the customers’ assembly work.

With approximately 80 skilled employees, significant know-how, a large and versatile machine park, robot technology and spacious production facilities in both Poland and Ringsted, Engskov Maskinfabrik holds a strong position in its market. This provides a solid foundation for the company’s continued development, driven by new sales, upselling and growth in production.

“We look forward to finding the dynamic, entrepreneurial and ambitious Sales Director who has the documented experience required to help move us to the next level,” says Jes Gravesen.

An Informal and Flat Organization
When visiting Engskov Maskinfabrik on Haslevej in Ringsted, it is clear that the company is first and foremost focused on working as a team and producing high-quality products for its customers. The head office is far from ostentatious, but in the warehouse and the large production halls for welding, milling and assembly, order and systematic structure prevail. The organization is flat, and the tone is cheerful and informal.

“We are committed to involving our employees and ensuring that they can solve their tasks in the best possible way. That means that we in management focus strongly on removing obstacles, being responsive, giving influence and making the necessary decisions quickly,” says Jan Daugaard, who together with Jes Gravesen, the CFO and the Factory Manager makes up the management team.

Team Spirit, Well-Being and Development
For office assistant Mathilde Borlund, having good colleagues, strong team spirit and management that listens means a great deal:

“I like the mindset we have at Engskov – that we pull together and work towards common goals. The managers listen to you. It is also nice to be challenged. Here, I get the opportunity to try my hand at tasks other than those I was hired for – and that helps me develop,” she says. She is one of the three employees in the sales and project department.

Having a varied working day and the opportunity to help customers with solid, reliable solutions also counts positively when it comes to job satisfaction for one of her colleagues:

“I have a great deal of variety in my tasks. I work on both large, complex projects worth several hundred thousand kroner, but I also handle smaller tasks. Engskov is not bigger than that people listen to you, and we have very good sparring between colleagues. We have great trust in one another here,” says Jakob Graversgaard Kristensen, who is Project Manager and Quotation Specialist.
